How to actually choose your target countries

Before you look at a single university, it's worth answering a question most applicants skip: why these countries and not others? Not as a formality — as an actual filter.

Start with what you can verify about yourself, not the destination. Your budget range, your funding preference, your citizenship and residence (these matter separately — a Nigerian citizen living in Italy has different visa and cost realities than one living in Nigeria), and how long you're willing to be away from home or work.

Then look at what each country actually requires, not what it's known for. English-taught programme availability, typical intake timing, post-study work visa policy, and cost of living all vary more within 'popular' study destinations than the marketing suggests.
